Sleep disorders are divergences from a healthy sleep behaviour. Thereto count problems to fall asleep, sleep disruptions and premature awakening. Further sleep-related respiratory disorders are like e.g. sleep apnoea (temporary breathing stops in general related to snoring). Hypersomnia describes immoderate sleeping. Circadian sleep disorders are to be found in the fields of shift work and jetlag. Parasomnia are so called arousal disorders while sleeping as sleepwalking (somnambulism), nightmares, frightened wake ups (pavor nocturnus) and teeth-grinding at night (bruxism). A sleep-related movement disorder is for example the restless-legs-syndrome. A sleeplessness which is neither based on an organic nor on a psychiatric underlying disease is called primary insomnia.
